We’re looking for a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and support control systems for
automated sod harvesting equipment. This is a hands-on R&D and engineering role
with significant impact on product
performance, reliability, and innovation.
KeyResponsibilities
Design, implement, and test control system software for automatic and semi-automatic agricultural machinery
Program and integrate PLCs, HMIs, motor controllers, sensors, and actuators
Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control architectures
Support the development of embedded systems interfacing with sensors (GPS, LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, etc.)
Collaborate with mechanical, software, and electrical engineers to ensure seamless system integration
Conduct in-field testing, tuning, and validation of control algorithms and systems
Troubleshoot system issues and improve reliability in rugged, real-world environments
Document code, system designs, and test results
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Control Systems, or a related field
3+ years of experience in controls engineering or automation
Proficiency in programming industrial controllers and troubleshooting machine software
Proficient with Codesys
Experience with motion control systems, motor drives, and real-time control
Proficient with J1939 CAN bus protocols
Comfortable working in both lab and outdoor field-testing environments
Proficient with mobile hydraulic systems
Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work independently
Preferred:
Experience with agricultural or other large equipment
Knowledge of autonomous vehicle systems or robotics
Embedded C/C++ or Python for interfacing with sensors or microcontrollers
Understanding of ISOBUS, ISO 11783, or similar ag protocols

The Salary Range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 per year, based on experience.
