Java Developer Hybrid

Java Developer – Hybrid Encore Capital Group Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid – Onsite 1 Day/Week) Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Must be local to San Diego) Reporting To: Development Manager / Technical Lead About the Role As part of a collaborative Agile team, you will contribute to the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of complex, enterprise-level software applications.

The role offers a blend of hands-on development, system architecture contribution, and integration with APIs and cloud platforms.

This is a hybrid role, requiring one day per week onsite at our San Diego office, offering the perfect balance between team collaboration and work-life flexibility.

Core Technologies & Skills Required Java (Core & Advanced) Spring Boot / Spring Framework AWS Cloud Platform (or similar cloud experience) MuleSoft APIs (experience in API design, integration, and management) Microservices Architecture Agile / Scrum Methodologies Primary Responsibilities Application Maintenance & Enhancement (65%) Maintain and improve existing Java-based software applications, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.

Project Involvement (20%) Work cross-functionally on other software development projects including new feature implementations, cloud migrations, and service integration efforts.

Team Collaboration (10%) Participate in Agile ceremonies, contribute to design discussions, perform peer code reviews, and support team-based development initiatives.

Additional Duties (5%) Engage in knowledge sharing, documentation, and support continuous improvement practices within the engineering team.

Required Knowledge & Experience Strong understanding of Microservices design principles and architecture Hands-on experience with AWS or other major cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) Proficiency with Spring Boot and Java-based backend service development Integration experience with MuleSoft APIs or similar middleware Solid understanding of RDBMS databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or DB2) Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD best practices Ability to thrive in an Agile/Scrum environment and work cross-functionally Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Nice to Have Experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Exposure to API Gateway configuration and service mesh architecture Familiarity with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, and Terraform Follow us over Linkedin -
