Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programming & Quoting

Location: Bensenville, IL

Type: Full-Time On-site

Make an Immediate Impact at a High-Mix, Low-Volume Job Shop in Bensenville, IL

We’re looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join a tight-knit, two-person engineering team at a growing precision job shop serving the food and packaging industries. If you're a hands-on engineer with deep experience in CNC lathe programming, stainless steel machining, and quoting new parts from scratch, this is an opportunity to play a critical role from day one.

This position focuses on planning and quoting incoming jobs, programming CNC machines (primarily Mazak) using Mastercam, and supporting machinists on the shop floor. You’ll develop complete part routings—turning, milling, and secondary operations—and see jobs through from start to finish in a fast-paced, quick-turn environment.

What You’ll Do:

Interpret customer RFQs, BOMs, and technical drawings to develop quotes and production plans.

Create detailed part routings and workflows for machining operations, including turning, milling, and secondary finishing.

Program CNC lathes (Mazak and DNG) using Mastercam and Mazatrol (conversational and G-code).

Assist machinists with troubleshooting and edits on the shop floor (approx. 10–15% of time).

Select appropriate tooling, inserts, fixtures, and determine optimal feeds/speeds.

Transition 2D drawings and customer models to 3D CAD and CAM-ready formats.

Collaborate with the shop floor and leadership team to ensure efficient, on-time job execution.

Maintain and update ERP/MRP data related to routings and BOMs.

Must-Have Qualifications:

5–7+ years in manufacturing engineering and CNC programming (job shop preferred).

Mastercam experience for complex geometry and multi-axis lathe programming.

Strong familiarity with Mazak lathes, including Mazatrol conversational and G-code programming.

Proficiency in programming CNC lathe turning centers (including live tooling and Y-axis/multi-axis setups).

Expertise in machining stainless steel parts.

Experience with CAD platforms (Inventor or SolidWorks preferred).

In-depth knowledge of tooling, workholding, and GD&T.

Proven success in high-mix, low-volume environments with quick turnarounds.

Strong documentation, routing, and BOM interpretation skills.

ERP/MRP system familiarity.

Nice to Have:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).

Project management or customer-facing communication experience.

Exposure to lean manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, KPIs, etc.).
