Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Principal, the AP serves as a member of the school administrative team and assists the principal in developing and implementing policies, programs, and curriculum activities in a manner that promotes the educational development of each students and the professional development of each staff member.

Essential Functions:

Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Wayne Preparatory Academy, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to all school issues.

Work with principal in planning, developing, coordinating and evaluating the operations of the school. Conceptualize the broad goals and vision of the school and plan accordingly, to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program.

Demonstrate excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

Maintain inter-school communications and seek assistance from administration and other support staff to improve performance; maintain good relationships with students, staff and parents; comply with established lines of authority.

Supervise, appraise and provide feedback regarding the performance of school staff in accordance with state and local requirements.

Work in partnership with Human Resources to supervise personnel as needed, including interviews, hiring recommendations, evaluations, assigning special duties, monitoring attendance, reprimands and granting leave. Additional Duties:

Equipment

General office equipment as well as audio/visual equipment.

Travel Requirements

5% Moving between schools/cottages as required. Attending workshops/Professional Development as needed.

Ability to communicate with, and maintain working relationships, effectively with students, parents, and coworkers.

Ability to assist with leadership and to work with the principal in the planning, development and establishment of new, modified or improved programs, services and activities.

Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal policies.

Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.

Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts.

Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.

Ability to organize and coordinate work.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Works in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile:

Master's Degree in Administration.

North Carolina Board Certification.

Minium of 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher.
