We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as an Early Learning Director/Lead Teacher at our Early Learning Center in Monticello, NY. This dynamic position involves supporting curriculum delivery in the Before and After School Classroom, as well as performing essential administrative tasks to ensure the center’s success.

PAY: $17-$20 per hour

JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:

Curriculum Support: Work closely with the teaching team to ensure effective implementation of our curriculum, creating an enriching learning environment for young learners.

Administrative Duties: Oversee essential administrative responsibilities, such as planning, organizing, and implementing childcare services. Make decisions regarding budgeting, policy compliance, staff training, and supervision.

DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Engagement: Partner with the marketing team to promote the center through open houses, events, and community outreach, helping to increase enrollment and meet local needs.

Licensing Compliance: Ensure operations align with the Office of Children and Family Services Day Care regulations and develop strong relationships with local OCFS licensors.

Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records in line with OCFS requirements.

Facility Management: Oversee the physical space, including procurement of supplies and developmentally appropriate equipment, in accordance with ECERS guidelines.

Staffing: Handle all staffing needs, including recruitment, training, and ongoing supervision, to build and maintain a dedicated team focused on quality care.

Communication and Collaboration: Use HR and Registration platforms to streamline operations. Foster open communication with staff, parents, and caregivers, offering resources and support as needed.

Program Enhancement: Gain proficiency in ECERS, Creative Curriculum, and CLASS observations to enhance the quality of the program.

Parent Engagement: Schedule biannual parent-teacher conferences and provide guidance to staff and support to parents as necessary.

LEAD TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Crafting Adventures: Design and implement weekly plans featuring age-appropriate lessons from the Creative Curriculum to support children’s growth across all developmental areas.

Building Bonds: Foster positive interactions between adults and children using the CLASS method, ensuring every child feels valued.

Safety First: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care by adhering to ECERS/ITERS standards.

Keeping Connected: Maintain ongoing communication with parents and caregivers through the Brightwheel App, email, and in-person meetings, building strong relationships.

Tracking Progress: Monitor children’s developmental progress and organize parent conferences to discuss growth, needs, and interests.

Smooth Transitions: Help guide children and families through key transitions, from toddler to preschool and preschool to kindergarten.

Team Support: Keep Assistant Teachers updated on classroom and program developments, providing training and support as needed.

Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing in-service and educational opportunities provided by Healthy Kids to continually enhance your skills.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

To qualify as a Director, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

A bachelor’s degree with at least 12 credits in early childhood education, child development, or a related field, plus one year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center or similar setting, and one year of supervisory experience.

A New York State children’s program administrator credential, one year of full-time teaching experience, and one year of supervisory experience.

An associate’s degree in early childhood or a related field, with a plan to earn a bachelor’s degree or New York State children’s program administrator credential, plus two years of full-time teaching experience and two years of supervisory experience.

A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or other recognized certification, with a plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree or New York State children’s program administrator credential, plus two years of full-time teaching experience and two years of supervisory experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ready to pass a background check, including fingerprinting, references, and SEL & SCR through NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

Medically fit to perform all job duties and free from communicable diseases, including TB.

Warm, friendly, and approachable with excellent people skills, whether with children, parents, or colleagues. Professional, reliable, and punctual.

Strong leadership skills with a commitment to providing top-quality childcare.

Able to lift, carry, and perform physical activities (up to 50 lbs.) to keep up with children.
