Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is part of the Student Services Finance Operations which roll up to the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Students portfolio. This business function serves as a centralized finance entity, supporting all departments within Student Services to develop accurate financial reporting, budget preparation, and strategic financial insights, focusing on cost efficiency, improving oversight and control over financial activities, optimizing resource utilization, facilitating clear and consistent communication of financial information across Student Services to improve transparency and collaboration, and standardize financial processes, policies, and reporting.

About the Role

The Manager of Finance will lead a team of three members, work in the function of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) within Student Services Finance Operations, provides essential financial analysis and support to all departments within Student Services. This role is crucial in producing timely financial reports, preparing and monitoring budgets, and supporting long-term financial planning. The role includes prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, analyze variances, and design various financial reports; develop and maintain multi-year financial projections, support annual budget consolidation, and provide strategic financial insights; manage daily finance operations, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with university policies; lead and manage support staff, ensuring effective financial controls and processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a professional accounting designation (CPA) and five years of related experience including financial management, budgeting and, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Excellent knowledge of financial analysis, budget planning, financial reporting, management accounting, and financial management best practices.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent knowledge of the design and development of financial models, and project management skills

Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), interdisciplinary teamwork, supervisory, and customer service skills.
