Getaway builds tiny houses, places them in the middle of nature, and rents them out by the night to people looking to disconnect and recharge.

The Assistant General Manager will be the resident expert in taking care of our most prized possessions: our tiny houses, the guests that rent them, and the team that keeps them going. They’ll also be the master of running the day-to-day operations and the point person building and maintaining a strong and reliable team. To be good at this job, you should be a natural leader that smiles a lot, finds happiness in the details, and always strives to bring guests joy. You should also be the type that is bothered by a mess. We’re looking for a hospitality-minded soul with an eye for all the little things.

The primary responsibilities of this position are anticipated to include:

Support the General Manager in all aspects of the operation

Serve as first point of contact, manager on duty for team whenever on shift. Performing on call shifts as necessary, but likely a few times a week

Help drive KPIs such as labor spend, guest satisfaction and secret shopper scores

Overseeing team-focused recruitment, on-boarding, and training. Sometimes traveling to newly opening Outposts and leading training efforts in this market

Updating training materials as necessary and constantly seeking process improvements

Driving daily initiatives like deep stagings, preventative maintenance, staging assignments and glitch resolutions

Auditing the ongoing work of the team, performing spot checks, providing feedback and coaching

Managing inventory including operating supplies, linens and FF&E

Point person for ensuring back of house organization and cleanliness

Helping manage departmental budget by pushing projects forward within the scope of work

Anticipating potential guest issues and addressing them in advance whenever possible

Ensuring every cabin is perfectly staged for every guest including making beds, doing laundry, changing toilet cartridges, arranging welcome items and provisions, cleaning and staging exterior (e.g. fire pit area), etc.

Solving problems proactively in an efficient, effective, and professional manner

Schedule + compensation

40 hours per week

Changing hours may include weekends, nights, short shifts and long shifts

Full health benefits, optional - health/dental/vision coverage (paid in part by Getaway)

Hourly Wage + benefits, including 10 paid vacation days, 10 paid holidays (2x hourly wage)

Location and transportation

The primary location of the position will be in Stanardsville, VA. It is expected that you have your own transportation as you will be required to drive your own vehicle to fulfill your role.

This position is often a launching pad to becoming a future Getaway General Manager. Opportunities in new locations across the country may become available to star performers and therefore an ability to relocate is preferred, but not necessary.

Team members must have a valid driver's license and will be expected to drive their own vehicle.
