Skowhegan, Maine: We invite a confident Neurologist to join an established, employed Neurology group managed by an independent 25-bed critical access hospital. This community medical center provides primary and specialty care to more than 30,000 residents in this riverside community in central Maine. Join more than 40 physicians (and 700+ employees) delivering progressive health and medical services in beautiful, state-of-the-art facilities.
Candidates requiring J1 or H1b sponsorship are encouraged to apply.
Practice alongside an experienced Neurology FNP in a modern medical building adjacent to the hospital Join. You will assess and treat a variety of patients for a variety of issues, illnesses and conditions in a general neurology practice supported by MAs, an office manager and a practice secretary. Enjoy a convenient weekday schedule with your choice of 5 8-hour days or 4 10-hour days. A 24/7 ED manages urgent cases, and a dedicated Hospitalist team cares for all admitted patients.
You will be employed by the hospital and will earn a highly competitive salary plus benefits that include paid relocation assistance, life, health and disability insurance, liability insurance, 7 weeks of paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick leave, CME time), a generous budget for your CME expenses, and more. Student loan assistance is also available. For those needing immigration support, all costs will be covered.
Come to beautiful Maine and see how it earns the nickname, Vacationland! Skowhegan is the jumping-off point to The North Woods, an outdoor recreation lover’s dream, with dozens of lakes and rivers, and scenic mountains. Winter snow provides a reliable base for many miles of groomed snowmobile and snowshoeing trails. Locals frequent Eaton Mountain (3 miles from the hospital) for skiing, snowboarding and sledding, or the big slopes of Sugarloaf Mountain, one of New England’s premier ski facilities, 40 miles away. In the summertime, enjoy the activities offered by the beautiful waterways throughout the region. Try some of the best trout fly-fishing in New England, kayaking or white-water rafting, golf, hiking and biking, or camping on the banks of a quiet lake. There is something here for everyone who loves the outdoors. You may spot a moose or a bald eagle!
Skowhegan schools are highly rated, and your home options are varied. Choose a vintage Victorian home downtown, or a comfortable suburban place in a family-filled neighborhood, or a historic farmhouse, with acreage to enjoy. You might purchase your own land featuring woods, pastures or streams, and build your dream house! The Skowhegan State Fair brings fun and food to town each August, with everything from a petting zoo to a Demolition Derby. Surrounding communities offer art, theatre, gyms, children’s programs, unique restaurants and more – making this a terrific place to raise a family.
Skowhegan is located on the picturesque Kennebec River, which once powered local industry. The rolling hills of southern Somerset County mark an area rich in history, boasting a vibrant economy.
