The successful candidate is expected to conduct research including on issues relating to the United Nations (UN), relevant background information for UN meetings, UN resolutions, and other reporting requests. He/she will assist to monitor and report on news, events and developments at the UN; and assist to circulate UN documents, press releases and resolutions of interest. He/she may have to attend and report on meetings, seminars and conferences.
The candidate is also expected to be involved in administrative and logistical functions. They include the organising of events and programmes, maintaining of databases and assisting with official visits, such as drawing up the budget, preparing the programme, proposing publicity materials, setting-up of the venue, maintaining guest list, and executing the event on the day itself.
Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills; close attention to detail; ability to work independently; and proficient computer skills are key competencies required. Additional requirements include strong organisational and time management skills and an ability to multi-task, prioritise and follow-through in a deadline-oriented office environment.
