DentistryThis large physician group in southwest Georgia, along with, one of the state’s largest Community Health Centers is seeking a board certified/board eligible Dentist to provide dental services to our patients in nine (9) counties in southwest Georgia. This position is M-F, (8:30 am - 5:00 pm) with no weekend or call responsibility. Responsible include the diagnosis and recording of lesions and abnormalities associated with anatomical structures of the dentofacial complex, formulates a treatment plan in the best interest of the patient based on the diagnosis, consistent with the levels of services that may be defined by the clinic’s operational policy; may refer patients to other facilities for consideration beyond the scope of the dentist’s ability or as limited by the clinic’s policy; assumes the responsibility for rendering of services developed in the treatment plan. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES o Diagnose, prevent, and treat problems with teeth or mouth tissue o Remove decay, fill cavities, examine x-rays, place protective plastic sealants on children’s teeth, and determine diagnosis and treatment for fractured teeth o Perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bones to treat gum diseases o Extract teeth and make models and measurements for dentures to replace missing teeth o Provide education on diet, brushing, flossing, the use of fluorides, and other aspects of dental care o Supervises dental hygienist and dental assistant o Apply advances in modern biology to clinical practice and to integrate new medical knowledge and therapies relevant to oral health care o Apply the principles of behavioral science that pertain to patient-centered oral health care o Provide care to a diverse patient population o Communicate with patients, staff and colleagues concerning oral health care matters o Recognize and apply the ADA’s Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct and the Laws of Georgia and the Georgia Board of Dentistry’s Rules o Use information technology for professional development and comprehensive patient care o Obtain and assess diagnostic information from clinical and radiographic procedures o Develop ideal sequenced treatment plans and alternatives based on etiologies, prognoses and patient circumstances o Obtain informed consent from a patient, parent, or guardian o Prescribe and administer pharmacological agents for anxiety, pain, infection and caries prevention o Manage replacement of teeth for the partially or completely edentulous patient o Manage periodontal diseases o Manage pulpal and periradicular disease o Biopsy and refer orofacial abnormalities and pathology beyond dentist scope o Perform uncomplicated oral surgical procedures o Diagnose and manage common orofacial problems that cause patients to seek urgent dental care o Assess the dentition to determine the need for orthodontic treatment o Evaluate the outcomes of treatment o Prevent and manage complications and emergencies arising during dental care and to provide basic cardiac life support if necessary o Attends staff meetings and participates in diagnostic and treatment discussions. o Provide patients with referral sources that are not within the scope of the physician’s expertise. QUALIFICATIONS Requires a DDS or DMD degree from a dental school accepted by the American Dental Association; possession of a current, valid Georgia license to practice dentistry; and one year of experience in the field of clinical dentistry is preferred.
