We are a technology start-up company that is bringing a new technology to the retail sector in England, Canada and the US. We partner with international and well known brands to bring point-of-sale advertising into unique retail environments and we are looking for Territory Development Managers to work on a commission basis. In this role, you will approach target retailers to offer our advertising technology for display in their environment. We need someone who is engaging, kind and professional in their approach.
So far this role should be straight forward. Here is where it is a bit unique.
We are a technology company and we are building this network of retailers as we speak. We are looking for someone to help establish this network that we pay a commission for. At first commissions may be a bit lower as we grow, and we are looking for someone who is open to taking a bit of risk with us in that growth. As your territory grows and as brands want to advertise in your territory, you will make more money.This creates a variable commission environment, where you earn more over time as your network grows.

To help you understand this role better we created some questions and answers below.
How much will I make? In the beginning a lot of this will depend on how well you do, and how successful we are in selling advertising. It will start slow and not be a lot. First, $100's a month, then $1,000. Our goal is to get you to $ 100,000 a year in the second year.
Is this a full time role? It doesn't have to be right away. We would like to make you successful, so this could be part-time while you transition from another job. It could be piece-work when you have time. or you could become our #1 sales person by growing your network fast.
Why would I want this job? Well we are going to pay you, per month, per location that is in your Territory.That is called recurring revenue and it grows over time, with each store you add in your territory. Eventually you will make a lot of money from just managing the territory that you built. Plus we are not going to be small for long and there will be a lot of opportunities with us as we grow.
Will I be an employee? No you will be an independent contractor working on commission that is driven by our advertising revenues. Eventually you might want to be an employee and we are OK discussing that as we grow.
Who would do well in this role? You will be entrepreneurial. Maybe you work for Deliveroo or Lyft or Uber and have extra time. Maybe you are personable and like to sell. Maybe you want to build something that pays you over and over again for building it, and not for your time each day. If you have the time and an interest, then it is for you.
