In direct partnership with the Commercial Solutions Business Development team and the Commercial Solutions Leadership Team, this role will work to identify and analyze market trends, develop research/insights/solutions that address client problems and help win new business for Syneos Health, and support the broader strategic efforts of Commercial Solutions and Syneos Health Inc through development and execution of new business strategies. The role requires working closely with many groups and individuals across the enterprise – including senior executive leadership -- and provides a broad exposure to the strategic and operational opportunities facing the leading pharmaceutical companies and Syneos Health. Finally, this role will work on Commercial Leadership strategic initiatives and operational outputs to help inform leadership on division wide activity, performance, operations, strategies, etc.
This is both a strategic and analytical role that reports to the Director, Business Insights and Market Development.
As a key foundation for the Contract Commercial Organization, this position will:
Provide ongoing consultative support to the Commercial Solutions Business Development function by analytically enabling efforts to identify opportunities and build partnerships with key client organizations that drive revenue growth for Syneos Health.
Collaborate with the Syneos Health analytical community to research targeted companies and help guide potential Syneos Health BD opportunities.
Develop succinct cogent overviews of therapeutic areas, product promotional strategies, pharmaceutical company challenges/opportunities, as well as impacts of operating environment trends, competitor strategies, and current events
Coordinate and manage strategic account planning process and periodic reviews; assist in the development of annual BD business plans for targeted key client organizations.
Research, plan and facilitate/lead market development and customer engagement opportunities.
Support the development and execution of Commercial Solutions strategic initiatives, including supporting the strategic operating plan process, building business cases for investments and new business opportunities, and identifying, analyzing, and supporting creative solutions to key business challenges.
Leverage business reporting tools to provide insights and recommendations.
Use primary and secondary market research data, business insights, CI tools, information gathered from Syneos Health subject matter experts, previous enterprise experience and external data sources to develop value-creating solutions designed to address client needs, and thereby win and maintain business for Syneos Health
Support proposal and pitch deck development for business development executives and leadership.
Facilitate knowledge sharing and integration across Commercial and its Business Development functions, including providing navigation to information and sources of expertise useful for advancing sales success.
Respond to ad hoc information/analytic requests from the Commercial Division and Corporate leadership and enablement functions.
Work within a matrixed organization to work on special projects that support Commercial Division business development activities and the Commercial Leadership Team.
3--5 years professional business experience required in one of the following: solutions-oriented secondary market research, analytics, consulting or business development within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Marketing or Life Sciences. Master's or other advanced degree preferred.
Analytical, solutions development, and structured problem solving experience is required, preferably within the context of internal or external consulting/advisory support.
Significant experience motivating/leading/working with indirect project teams to solve tactical/strategic problems for internal and/or external clients required.
Consultative/client services experience strongly preferred.
Competitive intelligence analysis experience a plus.
Ability to multi-task and support multiple priorities equally well.
Strong influencing skills with a tactful approach.
Strong verbal and written communications skills required.
Excellent quantitative skills, the ability to think critically, and ability to structure problems so they can be solved.
Ability to extrapolate and succinctly summarize and explain highly technical or complex issues to a high-level management audience.
Intuitive and self-directed with the ability to work independently, as well as with groups.
