This contract is in support of the support of the Armed Services Blood Program and the Army Blood Program mission to collect, process, test and provide quality COVID convalescent plasma and other blood products from volunteer donors and to coordinate the distribution of blood products to Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) worldwide in order or provide life-

saving blood products.


The Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of duties to include but not limited to:

Works directly under the Officer in Charge (OIC) and donor center Supervisor in the support of Convalescent Plasma product collection operations. The primary responsibility of this position will be the recruitment, scheduling, and data tracking of COVID-19 donors.

Performs basic office administrative functions such as, filing of paperwork, document preparation, scheduling of meetings, note taking, and distribution of information.

Involved in prescreening donors for donation eligibility according to FDA and American Association of Blood Bank (AABB) guidelines.

Assists with scheduling of non-COVID-19 donors, answering general donor center questions, and registering all donors appropriately into BECS computer system.

Works in conjunction with donor center recruiters, hospital public affairs, and post public affairs for marketing of donor collections.

Checks donor’s vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.

Maintains donor interview room stock levels and performs routine maintenance of interview rooms.

Completes lab requisitions/ Theater Medical Data Store (TMDS) data entry in

accordance with BDC policies.

Enter demographic data into the computer (EBMS/TMDS) upon donor check-in.


High School or equivalent

Minimum one (1) year experience

as an administrative assistant required.

Previous experience working in a healthcare/medical environment desired.

Must possess excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills and general medical knowledge and the ability to network within MTF and post


Must possess excellent organizational skills as this will be responsible for scheduling and obtaining any required documentation from the donors prior to their appointment.

Must be computer proficient and knowledgeable with MS Office Products and be

able to train in a wide variety of Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS) systems used for tracking, registering and collecting data on COVID-19 donors.

Must be able to perform basic vitals such as temperature and utilize personal protective equipment.

Familiarity with Enterprise Blood Management System (EBMS), Composite Health

Care System (CHCS), MHS Genesis, and Armed Forces Health Longitudinal

Technology Application (AHLTA) is desired

Must read, understand, speak, and write English fluently

Must be U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain required government

security clearance.
