We are looking for a Staff RN – CNA (California Nurses Association) for Cardiac Cath Lab.

Schedule: Full-time – 80 hours biweekly - 1.0 Shift: 10-hour Days On-call is required, health care facility located in Eureka. This full-service hospital is now designated as a level III trauma center and has been a cornerstone of the community.

FUNCTION: Under the broad general direction of the Department Manager and/or Lead Technologist, and in collaboration with the cardiologists, radiologists, and other members of the medical staff, the Registered Nurse employs intellectual, interpersonal and technical skills through the utilization of the nursing process to assist patients of various ages in achieving maximum health potential. The Cath Lab RN participates in a variety of specialized invasive procedures, including cardiac catheterization, diagnostic angiography, pacemaker revision/implantation, imaging-based interventions and pre & post operative care. The Registered Nurse functions as a health team member through independent, interdependent and dependent roles within the health care system. Serving as the patient’s advocate, the RN assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing care for patients, as defined by the department scope of service. The RN participates in quality assurance and organizational improvement activities.

SKILLS REQUIRED: •Ability to ensure patient confidence and comfort. •Efficiently communicates with SJH-HC physicians, customers and employees, both in person and by telephone. •Reads and comprehends written instructions, able to interpret medical orders, correspondence, memorandums, and medical records. •Applies basic arithmetic and algebraic concepts such as proportions, percentages and simple equations with a high degree of accuracy. Performs medication dosage calculations accurately. •Applies deductive and common sense reason ability to problem solve on a frequent basis. •Concentrates on details in a busy and distracting environment. •Initiative and the ability to make independent judgements are required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school and/or proof of licensure by the state of California.

Experience: Two years of acute care nursing experience required. Critical care experience is required. Knowledge of cardiac cath/diagnostic angiography is highly preferred.

Licensure: State of California RN Certification: Current CPR certification is required. Current ACLS certification is required on hire or within the introductory/training period or no later than 120 days.
