Sr. Mechatronics Engineer

Palo Alto, CA - Full Time - Engineering - Mid Level

The Company is not only advancing the mechanistic understanding of the brain at the level of neural circuits and networks, but also paving the way for next generation diagnostic treatments and therapeutics for brain disorders.

They are seeking a senior mechatronics engineer to design and develop their next generation miniaturized opto-mechanical and opto-electronic products for large-scale observation and modulation of neural circuit activity. You will have the unique opportunity to work and thrive in an interdisciplinary environment of top-notch engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

The design, verification and validation of miniaturized mechatronic devices

System-level integration to go from concepts to prototypes and finally to production

Lead product improvement initiatives, analysis of failed components, corrective and preventive actions

Support knowledge transfer to the Manufacturing team and process documentation

Collaborate with product management and science group to capture system requirements

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

3+ years of industry experience demonstrating proficiency in using CAD tools like Solidworks

Experience with millimeter-scale part design

Capable of running tolerance analysis on complicated stack-ups

Programming experience in C++, Java, or Python

Experience with micro-controllers, sensors, motors and embedded systems

Desirable Experience

Experience designing parts and housings for precision mounting of optical components

Experience with integrating optical and electrical components in mechanical housing

Experience with CNC machining and precision micro molding

Some industrial design or human factors experience
