Professional Development Manager – for prominent law firm in Washington, DC. This position is responsible for advancing and guiding attorney professional development strategies.
Position Responsibilities Include: Identify associate attorney career development needs; design/manage the implementation of programs relating to lawyer career development, provide support regarding associate needs such as staffing and utilization. Provide ongoing analysis of workloads, maintain relationships within the Firm at all levels, establishing a reputation as a trusted advisor for career advice and guidance. Liaise with Professional Development teams in other offices regarding professional development training/initiatives. Welcome new associates to the Firm; provide them with Professional Development Department available resources. Provide confidential advice and guidance to attorneys regarding career growth and development. Oversee performance evaluation processes for associate and counsel attorneys. Work with the Associate Advisory Committee to address career and general professional development feedback from associate attorneys and to enhance new associate orientation and lateral lawyer integration training programs.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or J.D. preferred, 5+ years of career development experience, significant experience in legal, consulting, or other professional services organizations, prior success establishing, developing, and managing career development functions in a multi-office environment, thorough understanding of best practices in professional development and career development, strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Salary is commensurate with experience.
