Staff Hunters is recruiting an Automation and Controls Engineer for a client in Southern Maine.

Assist in the development of vision and programming standards and source code reviews for automated equipment. Provide guidance to employee end users on new equipment builds, analyze production equipment performance and develop plans to increase yield and productivity from under-performing manufacturing cells
A positive attitude, prior experience working with cross functional teams in project management of controls engineering
Lead developer responsible for all control systems that run the company's automated manufacturing systems, which include: Robotic Welding, Laser Cutting, Metal Forming, and Material Handling Technologies
Maintain, update, and improve current systems, develop new systems
Ability to compose professional documentation (Write protocols, work instructions, etc.)
Develop and build electrical and control system design solutions using best engineering principles and practices
Produce and interpret electrical and pneumatic layout schematics
Work with vendors on automation designs to meet equipment specifications, to determine feasibility, project scope, costs, and timelines
Manage assigned project capital spending and timelines
Provide technical support to Maintenance and Manufacturing in order to resolve operational problems
Support existing PLC and robot-based equipment to maintain factory throughput
Proficiency with MS Office, Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000, AutoCAD Electrical
Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems.
Ability to interpret and understand the National Electric Code and applying the Code to equipment power supply and controls.
Broad knowledge of AC/DC power distribution.
Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements as applicable to Electrical Power Distribution, Automation and Controls systems.
Ability to efficiently plan and organize work tasks to meet department objectives.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
BS in Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or similar related degree)
Minimum 5-10 years of professional experience in a precision engineering and/or manufacturing company with related job experience
