St. Jude® has been described as “a hospital without walls.” The St. Jude Affiliate Program’s mission is to extend care and benefits to more children and increase the number of children on St. Jude clinical trials. The Affiliate Program is a network of pediatric hematology-oncology clinics, hospitals and universities united to extend the mission of St. Jude. The physicians and staff at these sites work in collaboration with St. Jude staff to deliver protocol-related care to pediatric hematology and oncology patients. The team at the St. Jude Huntsville affiliate clinic is a part of Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and works with St. Jude as a partner in the care of children with cancer and blood diseases.
With a quality of life focus, Huntsville Hospital and St. Jude are committed to the addition of a full-time Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist whose professional, social, and economic interests would lend themselves to a long-term cultural fit within the St. Jude Huntsville affiliate clinic and the community. The candidate will perform routine and customary care of the inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients and should expect a clinical practice that consists of approximately 60% general hematology cases and 40% general oncology cases. The candidate must be BC/BE in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Our growing affiliate clinic currently sees 35-45 new oncology patients per year. Opportunities for education of medical students and participation in clinical research are available through our collaboration with St. Jude. The successful candidate will join one full time and two part time Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologists, in addition to two nurse practitioners who function as physician extenders.
Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children is a stand-alone facility dedicated to caring for women, infants, children, and adolescents. The hospital offers the region’s most comprehensive and experienced maternal and child health programs as well as the Regional NICU and 11-bed PICU staffed with 3 full-time intensivists. We have a fully staffed Pediatric Hospitalist program with 24/7 coverage and an active Pediatric Emergency Department staffed with Pediatric Emergency Medicine trained physicians for urgent medical needs.
