The primary responsibility of the Direct Support Professional (DSP) is to create and perpetuate a culture of excellence, compassion and integrity in the delivery of service to out individuals. DSP is responsible for in-home support service that ensures comfort, safety, and general supervision of individuals as well as home management services. Reporting to house manager, DSP will ensure compliance to all applicable regulations and requirements, and promote an environment that constantly strives to elevate the delivery of services to our participants

Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), e.g. cleaning, cooking, laundry, medication administration.
Assist with personal care hygiene to include bathing, grooming, and toileting.
Provide general attention to the individuals in accordance with an established plan of action.
Provide companionship an promote individual’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
Monitor, document and report any changes in individual’s emotional, physical and mental situation in a timely manner.
Assist with transportation or individuals to appointments.
Communicate individual progress to other Direct Support Professionals at end of each shift and document on the progress notes.
Maintain professionalism with individual’s, fellow workmates, management, and family members.
Provide a safe, healthy and lean environment for the individual and yourself.
This job operates in an individual residential setting and partially in the community setting.
While performing the duties of this job, this position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping for most parts of the day.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time/part-time position in a home-care setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts, as well as holiday and work during inclement weather, will be required.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Work experience as a caregiver (professional or personal) or a sincere desire to be a direct support professional.
Experienced driver with a valid driver’s license/willingness to acquire one.
