Medical Records Auditor
Academic medical center in Brooklyn, NY, seeks an experienced Medical Records Auditor for their physician team. Must be detailed and willingness to work collaboratively with other departments. The position is full-time with attractive compensation and advancement opportunities.
•Abstract clinical information from the medical record and assign appropriate ICD-10CM and ICD-10pcs or CPT codes according to established procedures.
•Maintain optimal standard of coding and assure uniformity of coding for compliance and reimbursement.
•Ensure the selection of accurate and descriptive codes from the appropriate classification system.
•Ensure the confidentiality of data contained on the patients’ medical records.
•Analyze the information contained in the medical record to ensure that the most appropriate codes are used.
•Conduct physician queries for appropriate documentation.
•Work collaboratively with all departments and hospital staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION
•RRA/RHIA or ART/RHIT or CCS/CTR or CCS-P or CPC coding certification.
•Ability to make coding decisions based on the use of established coding guidelines.
•Selected candidate must participate in ICD-10 training.
•Bachelor of Science Degree with related Health Information Management experience and two (2) to four (4) years of direct coding experience in an acute care setting.
