JOB FUNCTION – This position has core responsibility to support freight payment invoice auditing as process through PPG Transportation Management Systems (TMS). The individual must learn the functionality of the TMS system in the area of freight payment so that proper actions can be taken in the system to resolve invoicing disputes and rating discrepancies identified by transportation carriers or displayed as rejected by the TMS system. A detailed understanding of PPG transportation contracts and tariff rate structures must be followed to accurately and effectively complete freight payment invoice audits. The position may also support various projects related to data gathering, metrics/reporting responsibilities and other department efforts related to transportation RFP and bid events, carrier activity and carrier performance research. The ability to work accurately while under pressure to meet deadlines is critical.
Requires: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative discipline and one to two years of relevant professional work experience is required. Logistics experience preferred, not required. Ability to learn quickly: the TMS system, industry terms and fundamental knowledge of transportation modes (e.g., dry van truckload, bulk truckload, Less-than-Truckload – LTL, etc.), transportation carrier pricing structures, freight requirements, contract standards, Corporate Logistics and business unit field personnel associated with transportation. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a strong Excel background and spreadsheet/database skill set. Travel not typical for this position.
