Our valued Specialty Pharmacy client located in the Burlington area is looking to hire a pharmacy assistant on a temporary basis to help in the smooth operation of their business. Specialty pharmacies focus on high cost, high touch medication therapy for patients with complex disease states (such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis), so prior experience working in a specialty pharmacy would be an asset, but not necessary as training will be provided. We are looking for an assistant to work Mon-Fri, 8:30am – 4:30pm, starting ASAP until the end of June.
There is a strong possibility of extension or being hired full-time based off performance.
•Counts pills, labels bottles, prices, and compounds medications to prepare prescriptions for patients as directed
•Refill stock medication supplies for assigned areas
•Comply with provincial pharmaceutical regulations, adhere to provincial practice standards and guidelines
•Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers and communicate the dosage amount
•Maintain drug inventory levels by ordering necessary medications and supplies by verifying deliveries against purchase orders.
•Assist with cashier responsibilities as required
•Complete reports and documentation as required
•Other duties under the direction of either the Manager or Supervisor on duty
•High school diploma; Diploma from Pharmacy Assistant credited course preferred
•Minimum 1 year experience working in a pharmaceutical environment
•Experience with Kroll computer system is a strong asset
•Ability to work productively under pressure in a fast paced environment
•Strong oral and written communication skills
•Excellent customer service skills in assisting patients
