Summary: The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating and expediting the detailed production schedules for each work center according to production plans provided by the Supply Chain department. The Production Scheduler will update the MRP system and other reports in order to coordinate material and production plans while achieving efficiency in fulfilling production orders, maintaining high customer service and minimizing cost of goods sold (CGS) under the direction of the Supervisor Production Scheduler.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepare production floor schedules for tableting, packaging and specialty compounds.

Receive and analyze products, quantities and due dates from the Supply Chain department.

Convert planned orders to production orders for all production/shop-floor activities.

Develop work center sequence, utilization, production labor for internal manufacturing and outsource manufacturing support.

Schedule work centers and attain accountability via interaction with department head/supervisor.

Coordinate with the Purchasing department for sequence of materials to support work centers including outsource.

Release production orders in accordance with production plan/schedule and re-schedule as required.

Ensure shop-floor operations are accurately reflected and detailed in systems, thereby maintaining system/data integrity.

Provide high level of support and service to ensure that production commitments and supply plan are effectively supported.

Participate in scheduling meetings with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Inventory Control personnel with emphasis on resolving outstanding issues, communicating schedule priorities, and facilitating interdepartmental discussions.

Translate/transfer shop floor scheduling changes into Navision to maintain system in balance with production operations.

Work closely with the Purchasing department to communicate changes to the MPS that will impact material planning (MRP) activities and material supply availability.

Confirm and troubleshoot BOM and routers in order to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Identify backlogs and collaboratively resolve open issues; ensure timely completion of material issues, goods confirmation to ensure accurate inventory levels and system data.

Effective execution of the MPS requires issuance and maintenance of a schedule that prioritizes pending activities and ensures plant compliance.

The incumbent will utilize the Navision functionality/planning tools and other systems to transform the work into the appropriate output to be utilized by shop floor personnel.

The incumbent will be engaged in optimizing and improving upon areas of scheduling, planning and control.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned or as needed.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or other GMP related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

APICS certification desirable.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience with Navision or other scheduling and MRP systems.
