Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Healthcare Sciences)

Job Responsibilities

Position Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Shift: Several shifts available – please indicate availability

Location: Buffalo, NY area

As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing, analyzing, reviewing, and reporting test results and quality control results, as well as taking remedial action when indicated. You will ensure specimen integrity by following proper procedures for specimen handling and processing, as well as adhering to policies and procedures to include departmental programs, quality control, quality assurance, and safety. Performs staff Medical Technologist duties.

Additional responsibilities of the Clinical Laboratory Technologist include:

• Following procedures for test analysis and reporting, and maintaining records of patient results

• Understanding and operating test systems proficiently

• Troubleshooting test systems and taking appropriate action where indicated

• Utilizing job knowledge, judgment, and problem solving skills to ensure quality

• Performs simple and complex analysis on tissue, blood and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods and SOPs.

• Trains other technical personnel in the performance of laboratory tasks

• Approves the performance of tests by technicians

• Uses independent judgement and assumes accountability for high quality standards

Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Healthcare Sciences)

Job Requirements

Successful candidates for the Clinical Laboratory Scientist must be certified in the area of medical laboratory science by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or equivalent (AMT, AAB, etc.).

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related healthcare science field

• 1 Year of internship experience in an NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program

• 1-3 years experience as a generalist including: Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Serology/Immunology.

• NYSDOH Clinical Lab Technologist/Technician license
