This position is an opportunity to be part of a stable, rapidly expanding organization that offers a tremendous amount of growth potential. The successful candidate will have leadership responsibility for environmental compliance across the organization.

Key responsibilities of the Environmental Manager position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Technical Expert and Facility Environmental Compliance Program Owner

Directing and assisting in compliance of federal (EPA) and State environmental program requirements, including but not limited to air, water, wastewater, stormwater, solid and hazardous waste, CERCLA/EPCRA

Assisting the General Manager in the development and the implementation the mill compliance plan as well as integration of the environmental systems into the plant’s overall training and execution plan

Coordinating activities and preparing/submitting reporting to outside agencies

Staying current with new ideas, engineering, and techniques in the environmental field

Representing the facility during agency inspections

Interpret data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advising management accordingly

Identifying cost-effective solutions for technical and regulatory environmental issues

Provide support and technical expertise to area operators and maintenance personnel

Support Shift Operations Leader in Operator training and qualification processes

Assist the mill continuous improvement efforts by coordinating activities with department operations and maintenance teams

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher in an Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering or related field required.

A minimum of ten (10) years of industrial environmental experience.

Experience communicating with all levels of the organization (i.e., via reports, e-mail, verbally, and/or in small/large group settings).

Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects.

Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekend duty as necessary.

Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)
