This is a great opportunity for a Medical Assistant to get into a growing practice. Located in West Concord (right next to the Commuter Rail Station!), Lincoln Physicians is a community practice poised to continue growing and make an even bigger impact in the community.

General Summary/Overview:

Under the direction and supervision of the medical providers, the Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the direction of healthcare and patient care management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrates courteous, professional and cooperative behavior toward patients, visitors, coworkers and clinicians. Performs duties as a team member, integrating activities with those of fellow employees and clinicians.

Prepares exam rooms and testing areas. Assembles any necessary equipment etc. Ensures that rooms are clean and returns the rooms to proper order upon completion of the exam or procedure. Properly disposes of bio-waste and restocks the rooms appropriately.

Participates in pre-visit planning sessions (huddles) as part of the health care team. Confers with physician regarding which patients may take extra time in the schedule.

Reviews patient flow sheets, data sheet and other documentation prior to appointment to determine which labs and tests may be needed. Obtain Discharge summaries/ER Follow ups/ medical records for new patients.

Monitors patient flow and waiting room activity, ensuring that patients are roomed quickly. Keeps appropriate clinical personnel informed of patient flow issues.

Adequately prepares patients prior to physicians’ examination, efficiently obtains heights, weights, and vital signs. Explains any procedure on exam that is to be done, accurately recording information in the patient record.

Assists physicians in the provision of medical care. Patient care activities include phlebotomy, vision and hearing testing, EKGs, wound care, injections, call in prescriptions etc.

Will have primary responsibility for all medication refills. Track and records vaccines used on a monthly basis and obtain additional vaccines when needed.

Maintains the laboratory, processes specimens, and conducts certain specimen testing. Ensures that specimens are logged, requisitions are completed, pickups are done, results are obtained, and supplies are available.

Will call patient at physician request to convey needed information, notifies patients regarding lab/test results. Tracks specific lab results at physician’s request.

Is responsible for telephone triage, responds to all triage calls and will identify on phone patients who need urgent medical attention. Answers questions for patients regarding illness, test results, etc. Uses sound clinical judgment in determining whether a patient needs to come into the office to see the physician.

The Medical Assistant works as part of the healthcare team. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician by performing various duties.
