Job Title: AWS Cloud Operations Lead

Location: San Jose, CA

Duration: 6 – 12 Months (Long Term Contract) / Full Time

Job Description:

Candidate must have 6+ years of AWS experience and overall 10+ years of infrastructure architecture experience. The candidate should have a strong background in Linux and Windows based Systems, backup and storage administration, infrastructure performance and availability and public cloud environments. The candidate should have very good understanding of the AWS security concepts and enterprise IT compliance requirements.


• Good overall understanding of Linux and Windows operating system

• User Administration

• Patching

• Security (IP tables, etc) & Networking concepts

• Solid experience in scripting (Python, Bash, etc.)

• Linux certification is required (RHCE or equivalent)

• Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, etc)


• Experience in designing, implementing and maintaining all AWS infrastructure and services.

• Design and implement availability, scalability, and performance plans for the AWS managed service environment.

• Continual re-evaluation of existing stack and infrastructure to maintain optimal performance, availability and security.

• Hands-on technical expertise in AWS Security Architecture, automation, integration, and deployment (DevOps).

• Comfort with one or more scripting or dynamic languages (e.g. Python, Shell Scripting) Git/BitBucket source control.

• Provisioning and Configuration Management tools (e.g. Ansible, Chef).

• Familiarity with compliance & security standards across the enterprise IT landscape.

• Extensive experience with AWS (AWS Cloud Formation, AWS EC2, S3, VPC, etc.).

• Solid understanding of AWS IAM Roles and Policies.

• Experience with automation/configuration management using Docker/Kubernetes.

• Experience with Web Services (SOAP, RESTful, etc.).

• Knowledge of containerization is a plus.

• AWS Professional Certification is required.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain all AWS infrastructure and services within a managed service environment.

• Design, Deploy and maintain enterprise class security, network and systems management applications within an AWS environment.

• Design and implement availability, scalability, and performance plans for the AWS managed service environment.

• Establish and Measure SLA standards.

• Maintain AWS infrastructure and services.

• Deploy applications within AWS environment and drive deployment calls.

• Continual evaluation of existing infrastructure to maintain optimal performance and availability.

• Implement high availability, scalability, and performance plans for the AWS managed service environment.

• Implement and Manage the Backup and DR for applications.

• Instance managements and environment expansion.

• Implement and manage security policies (thru trusted advisor).

• AMI and Patch Management.

• Identify potential issues on a given application deployment.

• Monthly SLA Reports and Quarterly Reviews.

• Continuous evaluation of new tools and technologies.

• Implement process and quality improvements through task automation.

• Institute infrastructure as code, security automation and automation or routine maintenance tasks.

• Support the business development lifecycle (Business Development, Capture, Solution Architect, Pricing and Proposal Development).

• Manage the AWS Offshore Team.

• Be able to take complete ownership during outages and disaster and triage calls between various teams with minimum supervision.

• Must be able to work/co-ordinate with different teams effectively.
