The Technical Liaison will provide formulation expertise to the Quality Assurance and Quality Control operations. This individual will bring a depth of knowledge to the current QC associates, which will enable them to be more effective in their jobs. Solving batch problems and customer complaints independently as well as improving our ability to make paint efficiently and with the highest quality is essential to this role.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist the Corporate Quality Manager in the formulation/design/testing of company products
Review batch tickets and modify formulas for improvement opportunities
Work with Technical/Production/QC to resolve formulation and process issues
Educate other department members in the details of formulation/processing techniques
Work independently to analyze internal problems/customer complaints, identify corrective actions and bring to closure
Present findings and conclusions to the department manager(s), team members and or/customers as required
Responsible for updating test methods as ASTM standards change
All other duties as assigned.
Education level strongly preferred: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Degree is preferred to be in a Science related field such as Chemistry.
Preferred experience level: Three years of experience in a Manufacturing environment, Paint or Coatings industry including formulating.
Formulation knowledge of epoxies, urethanes, alkyds, baking enamels, waterborne polymers and polyurethanes preferred
Knowledge of the process of liquid coatings manufacturing required
Specific manufacturing skills including milling/pigment dispersion, order of addition techniques, spray/drawdown applications and filtering and container selection procedures strongly preferred
Knowledge of formulation test procedures and performance test methods strongly preferred
Root cause analysis experience strongly preferred
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system and other office machinery.
Ability to be organized in a fast paced environment
Excellent team building and communications skills with co-workers and external customers
Superb written and verbal communication skills.
Works well in a team environment
Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a Science related field such as Chemistry preferred.
