Position : Analytical Chemist

Location : Research Triangle Park, NC

Duration :12 Months Contract

Start Time : 8:00 AM

End Time : 5:00 PM

Total Hours/week : 40.00

Mon. - Fri. 8AM - 5PM OT as needed

Description:

General function:

• The incumbent will be responsible for developing and validating analytical chemistry methods for medical devices, materials, and drug products/excipients.

• Analyst will also perform routine sample analysis, as well as investigational studies to support material control initiatives.

• Primary instrumentation includes HPLC-MS, GC-MS, and ICP-MS.

Responsibilities:

• Develops and validates new analytical methods.

• Conducts routine and non-routine analytical chemistry studies utilizing HPLC-MS and GC-MS (ICP-MS and other instrumental methods) to characterize materials, identify impurities, assay drug product formulations or complete investigations.

• Performs sample preparation, including multiple forms of sample extraction.

• Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses.

• Prepares chemical reagents and solutions needed for testing.

• Maintains a safe chemical laboratory environment.

• Records raw data according to GLP documentation requirements.

• Interprets results and prepares technical reports on completed studies.

• Performs other technical writing functions as requested.

Position Requirements:

Education:

• B.S. degree in chemistry or other closely related field.

Experience:

• Preferably a minimum of 1-3 year analytical chemistry work experience.

• Prior experience performing analytical analysis in a GLP or GMP environment.

• A working knowledge of organic chemistry is a plus.

Competencies:

• Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.

• Must be proficient with MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

• Must be able to multitask and operate effectively within a diverse work environment.

• Must be team oriented and have strong interpersonal skills.

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
