Description:

Directs and runs nationwide projects including installation of custom aluminum storefront material; retail window glass; architectural metals; structural steel; various types of doors and hardware; signage; and, at times, millwork for retail customers.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Handles multiple projects for several customers at once, becoming the main point of contact for each project.

- Ensures receipt of signed NMD proposal or customer purchase order and verifies order details/scope of work, pricing, and timelines before starting any work on the project.

- Prepares and submits Change Orders to customers (after approval from Estimating Department) for new or changed scopes of work prior to proceeding.

- Conducts material take-offs, requesting materials and subcontractor services, and prepares manufacturing work orders in custom job tracking database.

- Obtains multiple, written quotes for material and subcontractor services nationally, seeking the lowest possible price.

- Gathers all required documentation prior to any work being performed.

- Reads and accurately interprets architectural drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.

- Works closely with customer and CAD department on shop drawings; reviewing for accuracy, changes, and approvals and ensures final architectural and shop drawings match what was actually built and installed.

- Prepares project schedules and timelines coordinating customer deadlines with shop workloads.

- Inspects parts and monitors progress of projects through manufacturing shops to shipment.

- Prepares detailed packing lists and coordinates installation of product with general contractors, superintendents, and other project managers working for our clients.

- Troubleshoots and resolves job site construction problems.

- Verifies project completion and quality of work performed through contact with install personnel, customers, and general contractors.

- Ultimate responsibility for on-time, within budget, completion of all scopes of work on assigned projects, as well as any associated punch list or warranty items.

- At times may travel, measuring national job sites, conducting site surveys, taking care of punch or warranty times, or assisting with installation.

- Additional duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This job involves speaking, hearing, color discrimination, keyboarding, reaching, walking, bending, kneeling, standing, sitting, lifting, pushing, and pulling at various times depending on work location. Physical requirements while working in the office differ substantially from work in the field, which may occur occasionally.

SPECIFIC SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

- Must have a good working knowledge of retail construction including aluminum storefront systems, door packages, and signage.

- Trade knowledge or a good understanding of glazing, welding, metal fabrication, wet paint and powder coat finishing, illuminated and non-illuminated signage fabrication and installation, and finish carpentry all helpful.

- Ability to read and accurately interpret architectural and shop drawings.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, and Internet Explorer and the ability to learn new software quickly. AutoCAD knowledge helpful.

- Working knowledge of laser line and range meters devices; small electric, air and hand tools needed.

- Working knowledge of standard OSHA and EPA regulations pertaining to construction and manufacturing.

- Good verbal and written communication skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Some college or vocation training preferred.

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management related to the glazing and storefront industry as well as managerial experience.
