Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

Law Degree or Healthcare Related Degree

Experience in the Law or Healthcare related field required.

Experience Training:

Minimum of seven years of experience in Clinical Risk Management required. Minimum of five years management experience required.


Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) certification required within one year of employment.

Must be US Citizen or Authorized to Work in the United States

• Oversees the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation and coordination of the Clinical Risk Management program with an objective of controlling and minimizing professional liability claims, as well as participating in safety, loss prevention and quality improvement activities. Leads, plans, organizes, communicates and directs Clinical Risk Management activities for risk identification, investigation, prevention and reduction for acute care and critical access hospitals and clinics. Provides oversight of Clinical Risk Management programs in alignment with mission and values, and according to regulatory requirements.

• Develops and monitors a strategic Clinical Risk Management Program, operating goals, and objectives for Clinical Risk Management. Creates and monitors infrastructure, systems, processes and standards to achieve desired outcomes.

• Collaborates in directing recruitment, training, development and evaluation of Clinical Risk Management staff. Directs 24/7 clinical risk management coverage/consultation.

• Oversees the security and legal protection of the electronic reporting and database system for access, dissemination of data, tracking and analysis of occurrences, loss trends and other risk management statistical data and benchmarking where appropriate.

• Ensures regulatory compliance related to Risk Management and its functions. Directs investigations and resolution.

• Designs and presents loss prevention education program for caregivers and physicians. Assists clinical chiefs, medical directors and others to design risk management programs specific to their individual areas.

• Serves in collaborative relationship with Quality, Patient Safety, Medical Affairs and Organizational Integrity to ensure mitigation of risk and optimization of patient safety. Provides risk management responder and support for the Patient Safety Stop initiative.
