Data Lantern is building an open data ecosystem for IoT and smart devices. We solve or help in solving some of the key barriers for IoT adoption. The founders have very deep experience in security, large data warehousing, and web infrastructure.

We are looking to add a key Sr Technical Architect position to our early stage startup. This position is for equity only until we secure first round of funding.

This Sr Technical Architect will be instrumental in driving the architecture of the ecosystem, scaling the backend, API’s support for our partners, and security of the infrastructure and the data.

Highlight of Responsibilities:

• Dealing with various IoT devices that interact with the ecosystem

• Full server stack architecture (OS, SQL, NO-SQL, backend framework, frontend languages, backend languages, ...etc)

• Cloud platform deployment and management (AWS)

• Backend performance monitoring and scaling

• Tight control and accounting of data access in the ecosystem

• Data access and integration with analytics/ML/AI

• Infrastructure and data security


• At least 10 years hands on experience in backend development (Python, PHP, django, MySQL, MongoDB, Node.JS, ...etc)

• Experience or understanding of web-based API, UI, and frontend framework (ReactNative, Javascript, REST, GraphQL)

• Understanding of Linux based system performance and scaling issues

• Experience deploying and managing cloud infrastructure (Puppet, AWS)

• Experience in tools for CI & CD

• Deep understand and experience in dealing with infrastructure, OS, network, and data security

• Understanding of infrastructure scaling issues (CDN, caching, routing, ...etc)

• Highly desirable understanding of data analytics, ML, AI, and tools (Spark, Amazon analytics, TensorFlow)

• BS in Computer Science from a top ranked university (MS preferred)
