Job Description

We are recruiting a Director of Plant Engineering - Facilities Management

Will report to Administrative Director, Facility Services.

24 FTE’s

2 Supervisors- That are Direct Reports

Will be over the Physical Plant as well as grounds- does not include support services.

Implements policies, procedures and programs related to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the Hospital's central energy plant, utility systems, Life Safety systems. leased/owned/managed real estate and grounds maintenance.

Fully versed in Joint Commission, NFPA, EPA and OSHA requirements and standards. Ensures the facilities are always survey ready.

Prepares requests for RFP, scope of services and contracts.

Budgeting, guide discussions on infrastructure, age of equipment- make recommendations on replacement and purchase of new equipment.

Master Plan

New wing coming online- 45,000 square foot new Surgical Wing which is in mid construction and another 42,000 square fee of renovations.

Engaged and architectural firm for a 5 year project.

Services Lines are growing- Hospital is a a growth mode.

Performs ongoing management oversight of Computerized Maintenance Management System by running appropriate reports of Preventative maintenance Completion Rates., Corrective

Completion Rates and other as appropriate.

Monitors sub-contractor performance performance and completion of tasks relating to repairs, equipment or systems

Acts as Co-Chair Safety Committee

Acts as Life Safety and Utilities Section Lead on Safety Committee.


Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred. If not certified, must obtain certification with in two years.

Bachelors Degree in an Engineering field, Architecture, or Facilities Management.

Minimum 3 years progressively responsible experience in managing plant operations.

Strong knowledge of automated building systems and computerized maintenance systems desired.

Ability to multitask .

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
