Janitorial Duties:

Responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Vacuums and buffs floors, shampoos carpets, empties trash receptacles, and replace lining of trash cans.

Primary responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors.

• Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces.

• Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment.

• Sterilize patients' rooms.

• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

• Steam-clean carpets.

• Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.

• Mix various cleaning agents.

• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.

• Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean.

• Apply wax to coat floors and buff.

• Apply sealant to floors.

• Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants.

• Move heavy equipment and furniture.

• Identify and report possible repairs.

• Other duties will be shared in interview

Maintenance Duties:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

School maintenance workers are responsible for ensuring that the school facilities remains clean and in working order.

Typical duties include sweeping/blowing parking lot completing basic repairs. In the summer, janitors might be responsible for setting up summer activities weekly. In the winter, janitors might be required to keep walking paths clear of ice/snow.

1. Repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting (interior/exterior), repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.

2. Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.

3. Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including furniture, and equipment.

4. Complete repairs as requested on work orders or by Head of School.

5. Assist with relocation of furnishings such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.

6. Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.

7. Hang pictures, mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as required.

Install door and window assemblies and hardware, including window glass and screens.

8. Install ceiling and flooring materials.

9. Clearing and maintaining gutters and downspouts and remedial roof maintenance.

10. Basic maintenance of HVAC and exhaust systems (filter changes, condensing units and evaporative units cleaning).

11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Equipment Used:

Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, welder (gas and electric air), concrete mixer, mower, weed trimmer, blower, edger, and garden tools.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
