Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for the effective management and quality of nursing.

1. Coordinate the clinical and nursing activities for OR, PACU, and SDS utilizing the principles participatory management.

2. Coordinates with appropriate personnel for clinical and management activities.

3. Provides personnel to ensure adequate staffing in accordance with Acuity and Matrix standards.

4. Troubleshoots and resolves issues with technical equipment; patient and personnel problems.

5. Provides clinical resources as needed to the staff through direct clinical intervention or provision of appropriate clinical expertise.

6. Responds to emergencies, ensures proper functioning of personnel.

7. Uses systematic methods to resolve problems and evaluate outcome.

8. Completes annual staff evaluation at least two weeks before anniversary date.

9. Makes daily rounds and is highly visible in the units.

10. Coaches and mentors charge nurses and staff.

Contributes toward attainment of hospital and departmental goals and objectives.

1. Communicates and supports the mission, vision and values of the organization.

2. Maintains information flow regarding Nursing and hospital activities.

3. Participates in resolving interdepartmental and intra departmental system problems.

4. Counsels employees in accordance with hospital policy and employment laws.

5. Participates in a Nursing or hospital committee(s) and attends Nursing Leadership Meeting(s).

6. Proactively evaluates system, identifies system problems, and develops action plans for resolution.

7. Completes all documentation on a timely basis.

8. Participates in the identification and learning needs of staff. Collaborates with Educator to assure needs are met.

9. Ensures unit compliance with regulatory agency standards.

10. Responsible for recruitment and retention of OR, PACU, and SDS personnel.

11. Communicates effectively with Director of Perioperative Services.

12. Completes all other duties as assigned.

Fiscal Responsibility

1. Collaborates with appropriate staff and Director in the development of departmental budget. Assures performance within budgeted resources.

2. Submits variance reports to Perioperative Director.



Position Qualifications

Minimum Education: Knowledge necessary to obtain California RN license and current California RN license. Current American Heart association BLS certification. Current American Heart Association ACLS, PALS, or NRP as appropriate to department.

Minimum Experience: 1-3 years nursing management experience preferred.

Preferred Certification/Registration: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare field preferred.

3-5 years clinical specialty skills appropriate to department. Highly organized and excellent communication skills desirable.
