FULL TIME PHARMACY ASSISTANT

JOB LOCATION: Toronto, ON

SALARY: $17 - $19 an hour (Based on experience)

One of our Toronto clients is currently looking for a passionate and experienced Pharmacy Assistant who can contribute to the success of the team. In this role you will support day to day operations of the pharmacy and report to the Pharmacy Manager. As a Pharmacy Assistant you will assist in the preparation, packaging and maintaining the drug inventory. In addition, you will be expected to provide superior patient care in a fast paced work environment meeting deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Limited)

• Assist in the compounding while mixing, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals to ensure the quality.

• Ensure pharmacy equipment is in a good condition and make adjustments as required.

• Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customer and communicate the dosage amount.

• Educate customers on the use and effects of pharmaceutical drugs, and ensure the accuracy of prescriptions.

• Verify patient information before filling a prescription.

• Occasionally make phone calls, i.e. to insurance companies or to ensure that all billing is proceeding as required.

• Maintain the pharmacy stock through monitoring inventory systems.

• Complete new and update patient profiles, including lists of patient medications in the computer system.

• Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures.

• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• 1-2 years’ experience working in a retail pharmacy as a Pharmacy Assistant

• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment

• Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology

• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skill

• Discretion in handling confidential matters

• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and take initiative.

• Proven ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision
