The Early Childhood Education Teacher is responsible for general classroom management and supervision, which includes the personal care, hygiene, and positive discipline of the children. He or she plans and implements activities for children that encourage physical, social, and emotional growth and provides materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in active play. The Early Childhood Education Teacher prepares materials and classrooms for class activities and conducts all activities in a safe, organized, and productive manner. The ideal candidate has a college degree in Early Childhood Education (but not required) and at least one year of experience in a similar environment. Candidates must be physically able to interact with children on a day to day basis (stoop and bend, lift up to 30 pounds, etc.). Comfortable as a solution finder, organizer and team player that models flexibility, humor and follow through. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, documents, and maintains a variety of fun and educational programs and activities

• Interacts with children at their level (stoop and bend) both physically and verbally throughout the day

• Evaluates and analyzes student learning

• Maintains records of students and their progress

• Observes and responds to children’s needs, emergencies, and conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on the playground, in bathrooms, or in common areas

• Helps children with personal hygiene and with keeping classroom clean and organized

• Manages supplies and ensures orderly work areas

• Meets with parents, staff, and administration and attends staff meetings and other events as needed/requested

• Performs other duties as assigned

• Maintains a professional personal appearance, attitude, and work behavior at all times

• Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis

• Attends all required staff meetings, workshops, and/or school functions as determined by the Director

• Ensures that all class bulletin boards are current and provides the parents with an overview of the material taught in class

• Observes all rules and regulations pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children

• Plans with the Director all required parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations

• Plans with the Director and implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule using the Primrose School curriculum outlines and materials

• Provides an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages creativity, exploration, and decision-making by the children

• Supervises and manages daily functions for a class of children

QUALIFICATIONS

• College degree in Early Childhood Education beneficial but not required

• Must meet all state qualifications for classroom teaching positions and maintain state in-service requirements

• Current Child/Infant CPR and First Aid certifications

• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

• Able to interact with students of all ages and skill levels

• Highly professional and dependable

• Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality

• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed

• Able to stand on your feet for long periods of time, at least 95% of the day

• Proficient computer and internet skills

• Classroom teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility a plus

• Previous professional experience highly preferred

• Upbeat personality with a warm and friendly demeanor
