Newcon Optik is a world leader in the design and manufacture of precision electro-optics. We are currently looking to fill the position of “Procurement Specialist”. The ideal candidate is experienced in the purchase of general and specialized components, materials, and equipment; in processing purchase transactions; and in maintaining inventories.

Procurement Specialist

General Responsibilities:

• Review inventory against a production plan; develop, recommend and implement sourcing strategies that maximize value and mitigate risks to the company and its clients

• Purchase general and specialized components, equipment and materials, for use or for further processing by the company

• Assess requirements and develop specifications for equipment, materials and supplies to be purchased

• Source new supplier and follow up with existing suppliers; request and review quotes and technical information

• Execute effective negotiation tactics with suppliers on price, availability of products, and delivery schedules

• Foster and manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and adherence to terms

• Establish logistics of delivery schedules; monitor progress and contact suppliers to resolve problems

• Monitor inventory levels as components, materials and equipment are issued and transferred within the company, by using manual and computerised inventory systems

• Compile inventory reports, recording the quantity, type and value of components, materials and equipment on hand, using manual and computerized inventory systems

• Assess, evaluate, and re-evaluate new and existing suppliers according to the ISO 9001:2015 requirements

• Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists

Experience, Skills & Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or college diploma in a related field

• 5+ years of experience in a global purchasing role in a manufacturing environment

• Experience in procurement of electronic, mechanical and optical components is an asset

• Supply-chain certification an asset (APICS, PMAC, SCMA)

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to be accountable for your performance and documentation

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• High attention to detail with strong ability to multi-task and prioritize

• Demonstrated ability to proactively initiate and maintain business relationships with internal and external clients

• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel
