Position: Detention Officer

Department: Sheriff

Salary Range: $29,641 - $

Closing: Opened till filled

Primary Duties:

• Perform inmate intake, detention, care, and release work

• Observation and accompaniment of inmates inside and outside the detention center

• Accurate completion of recordkeeping

(highly desirable 12 hour shifts!)

Requirements:

• Completion of High School Diploma or GED required. It is desirable but not required to be supplemented by courses related to law enforcement or detention, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Must meet the minimum standards (background check, drug screen, etc.) set by the State of North Carolina for detention personnel

• Must have the temperament to treat detained individuals with patience, firmness, and respect.
