The Quality Control Analyst will support Mortgage in the loan level data validation, tracking and remediation of defects, with respect to HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act) data. The individual will work closely with internal and external parties to report defects and track defect resolution in the end-to-end process. They will be responsible for generating trend reports of monthly defects and assist in communicating results to relevant lines of business partners. Including finalizing loan data for HMDA LAR (Loan Application Register) submission. This role will be required to ensure accurate record keeping by following established procedures. The individual is required to have excellent organization skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasked high-pressure mortgage environment. Direct interaction with 3rd party vendors and internal support staff will be a part of the candidate’s everyday routine. The ideal candidate should have strong client service, relationship building and communication skills and should have 2-3 years’ experience in the Mortgage industry.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform extract file set-up and validation checks to ensure all loans are accounted for and logic checks to ensure the accuracy of certain field values.

• Validate extract file data against pre-established source documents and/or system data, recording correct values and defects within the appropriate team documents, according to established procedures.

• Perform additional sampling and testing of extract file data and resolve RiskExec edit checks, prior to finalizing HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act) LAR (Loan Application Register) data each quarter.

• Assist in remediation effort by reviewing, confirming expected remediation and closing defect tickets; Including tracking open tickets.

• Produce monthly defect analysis trend reports in MS Excel and assist with communicating monthly results to line of business partners.

• Serve as a liaison between the lines of business and fulfillment partners for defect escalation to assist with determining appropriate next step(s) and/or to remediate defects.

• Responsible for escalating risk and data issues.

• Assist in enhancing and streamlining the review and defect tracking and remediation processes.

• Understand, comply, maintain and reinforce mortgage regulatory and firm’s policies/procedures/guidelines.

• Assist in writing and maintaining procedures and job aids.

• Proven expertise and in Microsoft Desktop Operations systems (Windows 7, WindowsXP, Apple Mac OS X).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or quantitative discipline required. Education may be used as a proxy for experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products with strong Excel skills required

• Ability to perform technical based activities required

• Ability to communicate effectively with various partners over the telephone/email and establish credibility and trust with a variety of clients

• Ability to multi-task and achieve desired results

• Able to work independently and with a team to handle all issues while working under strict time constraints

• Experience in leveraging organizational skills to support client needs, focusing on execution, accuracy and efficiency

• Able to exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks with little notice.

• Prior leadership experience is preferred

• General understanding of Reg C (HMDA) is preferred

• Understanding of Mortgage industry

• 2-3 years of Mortgage experience is preferred

Finger Printing and Credit Check will be required for this position.
