EBSCO is looking for an Enterprise Architect to help define our application technology stack and help provide architectural guidance to our development teams.

Your job will be to own our end to end reference implementation, keeping it current and well documented. You will be expected to stay in constant contact with the development teams helping them adhere to architectural standards as well as opening lines of communication back into the architecture team. You need to be a strong communicator and will be expected to champion any technology decisions made by the architect group.

Our goal is to provide a clear runway for our development teams providing them with the necessary guidance and support to produce a well-engineered product. We are looking for a technologist who will code some as needed, but it’s still an architect role and need someone who is forward looking, working to put guardrails in place for teams and laying down reference implementations. Part of these forward-looking duties will include R&D work into future tech stacks, looking to introduce Istio for example

Primary Responsibilities:

- Build, document, deploy and maintain a full stack reference implementation utilizing coding best practices.

- Identify ways to increase employee knowledge and skills to support future growth

- Conducts and/or actively participates in meetings related to the designated projects

- Recommends and participates in activities related to the design, development and maintenance of designated projects.

- Lead the effort to keep tooling and SDK’s current across the organization

- Work with Development and Architecture teams to define project Non-

Functional Requirements

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

- Excellent leadership and motivational skills

- 10+ years as a software engineer.

- Deep experience with Java development technologies.

- Substantial skill with Spring technologies (incl. Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring REST)

- Strong experience in architecting container-based microservices solutions.

- Experience with modern web technologies such as ECMAScript 2015/2016 (ES6/7), JavaScript transpilers (Babel), JavaScript build tools (Webpack)

- 3+ years professional experience in cloud solutions architecture and solutions implementation on cloud.

- Expert knowledge of container orchestration platforms, specifically Kubernetes

Preferred Skills

- Ability to influence, guide, and reinforce the adoption of standards and processes across the development teams.

- Ability to lead, train, and mentor other Engineers.

- Excellent presentation and verbal communications skills.
