Anatomic Pathology Manager

Manage daily technical and administrative operations of the AP lab in compliance with all regulatory requirements of the CAP, Joint Commission and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)

Function in capacity of Histotech as needed

Serve as technical consultant and mentor, manage and monitor histology and cytology staff and coordinates department scheduling. Ensure skills learned by the staff during cross training activities are maintained by managing a work rotation schedule for prep staff and techs to maintain coverage in times of emergency, high volume and staff turnover

Manages hiring and oversees new-hire orientation

Responsible for developing, coordinating and executing employee training, verify staff are properly trained and evaluated and maintain staff competency and proficiency documentation. Capture data so when deviation in quality and accuracy occurs, the incident(s) are captured in real time and remediation intervention and in-service occurs promptly to address the issue and re-establish benchmarks

Ensure fair work allocation among staff and maintain an acceptable level of efficiency

Author/revise Pathology SOPs, work instructions, guidance documents and log templates

Responsible for tracking department financial performance, analysis of issues and action plan development to achieve revenue objectives

Works closely with Finance to ensure proper billing, CPT coding, Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures and protocols are followed

Act as liaison for AP team, Lab Administration and Pathology Group

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary)

1. Associate or Bachelor degree in relevant science

2. HT (ASCP certified), HTL (ASCP certified) preferred. or Will consider techs with equivalent training.

3. 1+ to 2 years experience
