Engineering Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced and talented Engineering leader / manager to take on the role of Engineering Manager within their industrial facility in Western NY to lead their Engineering department.



• Develop engineering department’s capital & operating expense budget.

• Oversee company’s engineering product and project requirements.

• Schedule project assignments, planning and budgets.

• Responsible for providing employee leadership, training & development, performance reviews, hiring, counseling and/or termination of employment.

• Establish and maintain Engineering procedures, Quality manual and Standards book, consistent with our quality plan.

• Oversee all engineering outsourcing, including qualifying and contract negotiating.

• Approve all department vacations.

• Support Sales, Service and customers regarding warranty issues and field service.

• Communicate on a routine basis with the proposal department regarding concepts, budgets and advice.

• Communicate on routine basis with manufacturing regarding projects, product improvements.

• Maintain monthly engineering loading and gross margin forecast reports.

• Other functions as directed.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

• 10-15 years of technical engineering experience, with 4-6 years in an Engineering management role within the industrial sector - technical products and components for industrial equipment and systems.

• Mechanical knowledge of steel fabrication, pumps, piping systems, instrumentation, process equipment, liquid heating and cooling, filtration, motion control equipment and a solid understanding of electrical control systems.

• Design knowledge with the ability to demonstrate above average skills using SolidWorks 3D modeling software and design tables, a working knowledge of AutoCad Electrical design software, FEA software PLCs, robotics, chemistry and 8D problem solving would be considered favorably.

• Must have excellent communication (both verbal & written) and negotiation skills.

• Experience with metal fabrication, controls systems, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, plumbing, circuits, electronics, etc.

• The ideal candidate will come from industry and have related Engineering experience within a manufacturing / industrial facility that builds heat exchanger skids and related process equipment, pump and chemical control skids and related process equipment, power generation or food process equipment

• International / Global experience highly desired
