General Summary

With minimal supervision; design, develop, maintain, enhance, test and implement solutions on the Salesforce Platform to meet business needs throughout VSP Global. Salesforce Developer is self-directed and responsible for all aspects of the agile development process for medium to large complex projects.

Essential Functions

• Utilize business user stories to determine business and technology requirements to ultimately deliver exceptional programs, features, modules, and small projects in a timely and cost-effective manner

• Generate design and development plans that deliver elegant solutions for the business. Be an active participant within an agile environment.

• Interact and effectively communicate with business partners and other GTS staff; act as an information resource by providing assistance and support to team members

• Participate in all phases of Salesforce development life cycle including functional analysis, development of technical requirements, prototyping, coding, testing, deployment and support

• Design and manage the execution of test plans to ensure a quality solution is delivered

• Work in the development environment which includes custom objects, workflows, validation rules, triggers, the IDE, SOSL, SOQL and web services

• Use declarative development tools such as workflow rules and field updates, escalation and assignment rules, approval processes and process build

• Develop, enhance and maintain custom applications on the platform

• Responsible for Apex development and test coverage

• Audit, identify and resolve data integrity issues and data migration using tools such as duplication management, DemandTools and the DataLoader

• Troubleshoot system issues and implement bug fixes

• Integrate with other systems including web services and appexchange apps

• Apply best practices and design patterns on the platform

• Administer, customize and configure Salesforce features including, but not limited to Security, Profiles, Role Hierarchy, Users, Page Layouts, Record Types, Workflows, Reports and Dashboards, Approvals, Object Relationships, Fields, Validation rules, Custom apps, etc.

• Use Dataloader, DemandTools or equivalent data management tools to audit, identify and resolve data integrity issues

• Create packages and deploy changes via SCM tool set/or Change sets

• Develop documentation to support management and maintenance of Salesforce and associated applications

• Develops and maintains business and technical knowledge of Salesforce and associated applications

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in related field; or related experience

• Minimum 5 years of IT development experience; at least 2 years of Salesforce development experience

• Experience designing, programming, and implementing large information systems

• Excellent analytical, organization, and communication skills

• Excellent analytical and problem - solving skills for moderate to complex problems

• Excellent time management skills

• Meet/exceed organizations best practices, expectations, and standards

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties

• Experience in Agile Development/Scrum Methodology

• Proficient with declarative development tools such as workflow rules and field updates, approval processes, escalation and assignment rules, process builder and visual flow

• Experience with Visualforce and Apex development

• Experience with SOAP and REST APIs, Bulk API and Metadata API

• Knowledgeable in standard functions of Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing, Collaboration and Community Clouds

• Proficiency in developing Visualforce pages, integrating managed packages, other third party solutions

• Understanding of SFDC MVC architecture

• Experience in developing Apex classes, Triggers, Visualforce pages, and API integration
