Job Summary:

Nurse Anesthetist - Anesthesiology CRNA provides specialized nursing service in administering anesthesia to surgical patients.

Specific Tasks:

• You shall determine an appropriate pre-anesthesia examination has been made by a physician, relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed.

• You shall develop a plan of care based on assessment, interpretation, anticipated procedure and essential equipment.

• You shall coordinate with appropriate health care providers.

• You shall administer anesthetic agents and adjunctive therapeutics.

• You shall monitor physiological responses and takes corrective action to maintain or stabilize the patient's condition.

• You shall provide resuscitative care.

• You shall record pertinent information on the patient's records.

• You shall terminate anesthesia.

• You shall provide patients with post-anesthesia care.

Education:

• Required: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (TSBNE) for clinical licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

• Preferred: Doctorate (Academic)

Licensure/Certification:

• Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).

• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification (or Recertification) of Nurse Anesthetist.

• Advanced Practice Recognition as Nurse Anesthetist by the Texas Board of Nursing.

• MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
