CUSTOMER ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

Application deadline: WED 11/21/2018-Water Customer Accounting-Duties: Serves as section head of the Water Customer Accounting division within the Finance & Administration Department; supervises, trains, & evaluates staff of six; manages the monthly billing & collection for water & sanitation accounts; oversees the various applications & databases online payment system, phone system, AS400 billing software, online phone orders; maintains & updates department webpage; coordinates preparation of annual budget; supervises purchasing for the unit; initiates & establishes improvements in unit methods & procedures. Education: Associate’s degree in business or public administration; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Four years or more of progressively responsible experience in billing or customer accounts service; three years of supervisory experience is required. Requirements: Must be capable of independent judgement; significant commitment to customer service is essential; must have knowledge of automated customer accounting, billing & cash receipting systems; necessary to have the ability to communicate clearly & effectively; required to have supervisory & strong leadership skills. FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. POLICE OFFICER

Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Protecting, serving, & working with Salina’s diverse citizenry & enforcing the law while protecting the constitutional rights of all. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Qualifications include: United States citizen; twenty-one (21) years of age at time of appointment; no felony convictions, domestic violence related conviction, or other serious misdemeanor convictions; good physical condition; eyesight: 20/100 correctable to 20/20, no upper acuity limit with contact lenses; ability to obtain Kansas Police Officer certification within one year of appointment. Application deadline: Until filled-Utilities- Duties: Performs technical engineering designs, construction observations, and GIS application duties; designs, surveys & observes construction for the installation of sanitary sewer, water mains, & other public utility projects; prepares conceptual designs & project estimates. Education: Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology, Geography with GIS certification, or related field. Experience: Two years technical civil engineering work and/or any combination of education or experience. Requirements: Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license. Pay: $17.77-19.90/hr.

UTILITY WORKER I

Application deadline: Until filled-Utilities-Duties: Performs semi-skilled & skilled labor in the maintenance & operation of a water distribution & transmission system/wastewater collection system; performs minor electrical & mechanical maintenance; maintains wastewater pumps, motors & controls; installs, repairs, cleans, taps, fits & inspects wastewater/water pipelines; installs & repairs wastewater/water valves, manholes, & fire hydrants; installs & repairs chemical feed pumps & piping; performs custodial work such as cleaning, painting, lawn mowing & snow removal. 911 DISPATCHER

Application deadline: TH 11/29/2018-Police Department-Duties: Responsible for dispatching all police, sheriff, fire, & ambulance operations in the city & county; operates a two-way communications system; monitors a computerized emergency system; types a variety of data into a computerized database. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: In-service training program; typing speed 40 WPM minimum. Requirements: Must be minimum twenty-one (21) years of age; must live within 40 minutes response time; must successfully complete in-service training program in communications related curriculum; must pass selection process that includes assessment interviews, psychological evaluation, computer voice stress analyzer examination, & thorough background checks.
