This position in the Technical Accounting Group serves as an internal consultant with various functions and businesses regarding complex accounting matters. S/he supports key transactions and initiatives through frequent interaction with leaders at various levels within the company. Additionally, this position is responsible for monitoring emerging and implementing new GAAP and statutory accounting guidance, as well as providing internal education on new guidance that may impact the company.


Serve as an internal expert, consultant and resource regarding complex accounting topics for unique, new or non-standard transactions

Interact with business and function leaders on matters impacting accounting, financial reporting and controllership

Monitor emerging accounting guidance (US GAAP, IFRS, and/or U.S. Statutory Accounting Principles) and communicate potential changes and implications to various stakeholders

Selectively influence potential new accounting and capital rules

Lead the assessment and oversee implementation of new technical accounting and financial reporting standards

Document accounting policies and methodologies

Research, resolve and document technical accounting and financial reporting matters presented by business and function leaders

Lead annual reviews of complex accounting areas (e.g., goodwill recoverability, embedded derivatives, variable interest entities)

Communicate with all levels within the organization on technical accounting topics



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary)

1. BS/BA degree in Accounting

2. CPA

3. At least 7 years of public accounting and/or insurance or financial services industry experience

4. SEC reporting experience (e.g., 10K, 10Q, 8-K)

5. Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills

6. Ability to read, analyze and interpret accounting literature to support technical accounting conclusions

7. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of management

8. Insurance accounting experience

9. Experience with implementation of new accounting standards or interpreting existing accounting guidance - PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

10. Experience with evaluating complex transactions and/or accounting guidance - PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
