Job Description

Position Description:

The Test & Development Engineer is a highly experienced individual who has the ability to test, tune, perform Design Verification Tests and provide technical feedback to cognizant engineers of high power solid state modules and systems from 10 kHz to 6 GHz, at power levels of 2 watts to 5000 watts CW and up to 20kW pulse. Testing and troubleshooting of analog circuitry for ancillary power amplifier functions. The candidate shall have experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE). Strong organizational skills are required as well as detailed documentation of designs. Knowledge of power amplifier thermal management is required. The candidate must require minimal supervision.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Tune and Test power amplifier modules

Mark up documentation of implemented changes. Process ECN’s (Engineering Change Notice).

Test and if needed update fast analog control circuitry

Update schematics, BOM’s, pcb layouts, assembly drawings and test procedures for modified designs

Test new designs to SCD

Participate in Critical Design Review process

Work closely with design engineers and assemblers

Position Requirements:

Must have a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or associated subject with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the RF and Microwave field.

Experience with SolidWorks and Orcad or Altium desired.

Circad / OmniGlyph PCB Layout (or similar layout programs)

Test equipment automation

Be familiar with high power amplifier thermal management techniques.

Understands the value of, and is able to produce, high-quality documentation.

Able to quickly learn and self-teach new skills and technology.

Maintains a constructive positive attitude in challenging situations.

Operates effectively under pressure and delivers to agreed timescales.

Good team player, interested in and able to communicate with other engineering disciplines.
