Essential Responsibilities:

Directly supervise 7-8 employees in the Estimating/Sales Department in accordance with the policies and applicable laws.

Interview, hire, and train employees.

Plan, organize and direct the activities of mechanical plumbing, piping and sheet metal estimating, including the preparation of construction cost estimates, budgets and value engineering for projects.

Review technical specifications and plans to fully understand scope of work anticipated and required.

Understand and calculate the costs associated in preparing and utilizing square foot budgets as needed.

Prepare estimates and proposals, in a timely manner.

Analyze the bid and apply appropriate labor factors and dollars.

Advanced proficiency in the estimating, analyzing, of the HVAC, mechanical systems, piping and plumbing.

Prepare mechanical scope letter and send to customers and prospective bidders.

Solicit, receive, analyze and check for completeness for any outside subcontractor quotations.

Participate in discussions with subcontractors, venders, architects, customers, and other personnel.

Investigate conflicts between the team, document findings and implement solutions.

Establish quarterly sales objective.

Conduct weekly sales meetings.

Qualify all prospective work to assure it meets objective for profit and expertise.

Establish objectives that will improve overall operations and the execution of our estimating departments strategic plan.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 to 10 years of related work experience.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology or related experience.

Must have a strong background in mechanical estimating and costing strategies.

Experienced in the use of computer estimating software, QuickPen a plus.

Experienced in conceptual and plan and spec estimating strategies.

Display an advanced senior level understanding of both the HVAC and or plumbing industry.

Local/National Codes and Standards for HVAC, Piping and or Plumbing systems. Labor and material costs associated with the mechanical industry.
