Detroit area Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturer is seeking a “Manager, Project Management and Industrialization in Chassis Product Innovation Team.” Project Management duties will include managing the day-to-day communication between Asia (management, engineering and planning teams) and USA management to ensure flawless understanding of objectives and assignments, developing a robust, efficient and fast project management process with simple, prudent metrics, developing and maintaining project timelines and milestones, and identifying barriers to meeting timing and developing solutions to overcome barriers. Industrialization responsibilities will include identifying and developing domestic and foreign supply bases for innovation projects for prototype and production sourcing, leading cost estimating activities for innovation projects developing make/buy strategies and business cases, and ensuring supply base has robust production processes. Will also manage and develop a group of up to 5 project managers, engineers and/or buyers, recommend, procure and manage project management software and manage associated budget and lead internal and external timing and industrialization reviews for prototype and production designs, models, and drawings using analysis techniques such as the DFMEA and DRBFM to identify and assess design and manufacturing risks. Must be a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum of ten years of experience including at least 3 years in Project Management with mastery of Microsoft Project software. Must also have a good working knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, DFA, DFM, APQP, VAVE and experience in automotive development. Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally required.
